Zar.18a דש׳. Ib. 24b כמאן קרו פרסאי לנרה דש׳ (Ms. M. אמרי for קרי) on what authority do the Persians call a menstruous woman dishtana (for the usual distana)? Answ. (ref. to Gen. 31:35 as if fr. דוש, cmp. דַּוְושָׁא, having the course of women). פרסאי does not necessarily refer to the Persian language, as evidenced by the preceding דְּבִיר. Persian dashtân may be borrowed from Aram.Syr. דשתנא, P. Sm. 958.
